Da First Day at Da Roux House

I must warn you that I am not a restaurant reviewer. I’m not even what some people call a “foodie.” With that said, I can tell you that I do like food with lots of flavor. I was happy to be among the crowd at lunchtime today for the opening of Da Roux House on West Sycamore in Kokomo!

I was there with three friends whom you will see below. Our menu choices were as follows:

Shrimp Po’ Boy, Jambalaya, Seafood Gumbo, and Cajun Burger.

Our evaluation of our meals were, in that order…

Very good! Excellent! Two thumbs up! and Good Burger!

Almost all the “usual suspects” for a Cajun place were represented. There were a number of interesting-sounding appetizers, and I am anxious to try the Streusal Bread Pudding, labeled a house specialty.

They were having a few opening-day hiccups, but nothing that will keep me from going back! I am very happy that my hunger for Cajun can be soothed locally.

Owner/Manager: Kim Morgan

Location: 415 W. Sycamore Street, 1/2 block west of Washington Street, in Kokomo, Indiana.

Hours: For now, 11:30 a.m. to 8 or 9 P.M., depending on the crowd.

Lounge to be open at the end of May 2010, which will extend their evening hours.

    OMG J.R., I just visited your blog after seeing the DaRoux review, it is great. I really enjoyed the different blogs you have already posted. You really are a very creative guy……………….way beyond the radio ranch! I am so glad we escaped.
